Dr. Hans Nikoley

We are delighted that Dr. Hans Nikoley has joined the faculty of Golden State Baptist College. He will be teaching in the Bible Department, as well as in the master’s program.

Dr. Nikoley served as a pastor in the State of California for three decades, beginning at the Mid-Valley Baptist Church of Turlock. After that, he pastored for more than twenty-six years at the Pomerado Road Baptist Church of Poway.

When he arrived in California, he was immediately thrust into the battle for religious liberty. In the late 1970s, there was a licensure crisis in California. Churches were being asked to fill out forms regarding the pastor’s preaching, about whether he ever spoke about politically sensitive topics such as abortion or homosexuality. Finally, President Reagan encouraged the passage of a California law that allowed churches to exist without state intrusion. Amazingly, President Reagan invited Dr. Nikoley to be his guest at the opening of the Reagan Presidential Library. Dr. Nikoley said, “To be seated across the table from the President and his staff at an event that all the living former presidents attended was truly an amazing event.”

In addition to his pastoral experience, Dr. Nikoley is a prolific author, now having twenty-two books to his credit. He and his lovely wife Mary Helen are well-known and highly regarded in fundamental Baptist circles. We are honored to add a faculty member of this caliber, and we believe our students will greatly benefit from his pastoral experience.
